Home: Feral: Art Gallery: Patrick Murray: Patrick Murray's Bio - 2003
: Openings / Tickets
The goal of this series was to explore entirely innocuous elements of my
surroundings: thresholds, doorknobs, moldings and window frames. In doing so I
found a world, or rather perspectives of a world with which I coexist but had never
considered before. For me the relevance of these common objects increases
dramatically as the perspective shifts and their context falls into obscurity, leaving
behind interesting compositions not of the subjects being photographed but of the
space they occupy.
Patrick Murray appreciates all of his senses and exercises them frequently. He lives
in Seattle where the rain kept him indoors much of the winter, forcing him to look for
what's fascinating about doorknobs.
